
Srabani Roy
Srabani Roy is ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s Vice President of Conservation Action for the Western Flyways. In this role, Srabani plays a pivotal role in driving the implementation of ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s Conservation and Workplace Excellence Milestones across state and regional offices in the western half of the United States, including California, Delta, Great Plains, Rockies, Southwest, Texas, Upper Mississippi, and Washington.
Srabani’s experience includes providing technical and strategic leadership on natural resources management and policy, freshwater resources, ecosystems services, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and environmental governance programs throughout Asia-Pacific and the U.S.
Most recently, Srabani served as the Strategic Group Lead for Resilient Mountain Economies and Landscapes at the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development, in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she led a multi-disciplinary, multinational team of 50, focusing on climate-adaptive livelihoods and landscape restoration. Prior to this, she held senior leadership positions at Conservation International, including Senior Director of Conservation Partnerships for the Asia-Pacific Field Division and Regional Director for CI’s Greater Mekong Programs.
Prior to joining CI, Srabani served as the Deputy Director and Head of Programmes for Asia and the Pacific for the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), an inter-governmental organization focused on ‘green growth’, in Seoul Korea. Srabani has also served as the Regional Director, Asia, for the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), an applied research center that is part of the CGIAR Consortium. Srabani has also held senior leadership roles as the Environment Theme Director and Associate Director of Programs for The Asia Foundation, in San Francisco, California. Her experience in environmental policy began with Abt Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Srabani has a master’s degree in energy and environmental analysis from Boston University, a master’s in journalism from the Columbia Journalism School at Columbia University, and a bachelor​’s degree in geology from Beloit College, Wisconsin.
Srabani is based in Oakland, California.
