About the Bird: These odd, long-legged owls seem to bob their heads in greeting as they stand by the entrances to their underground burrows. Although Burrowing Owls survive in a broad range of climates, they can鈥檛 thrive without open country, a good supply of large beetles or other prey, soil of the right consistency for digging, and preferably ground squirrels or other animals to dig burrows for them.
About the Artist: did a lot of different things in a lot of different places before moving to New York, including counting salmon, delivering pizza, and baking pastries. Now, she keeps busy as an emerging muralist. The Burrowing Owl has long been one of her favorite birds, she says: 鈥淪o I was super excited to immortalize these quirky little owls in paint.鈥
