Building on the dynamic exchanges from the US Climate Action Summit, this open session explored the resilience and durability of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) amidst political uncertainties. Expert panels, inspirational keynotes, and engaging discussions examined how bipartisan support for key provisions ensures the sustainability of climate policies regardless of future political shifts. Participants gained insights into the strategic alliances formed to protect the IRA and the importance of maintaining momentum in green initiatives. ()

September 24, 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. | The Nest Climate Campus Main Stage
Offshore wind will play a critical role in stabilizing the climate, which is key to protecting frontline communities as well as the bird species at risk of extinction from climate change. This panel addressed where the United States is today in responsibly planning for offshore wind development. Panelists discussed the role of the federal, state, and scientific, and conservation communities in collaborating on deploying this new technology in ways that are informed by science and community input in coordination with relevant agencies. This Main Stage panel was moderated by Sarah Rose, Vice President for Climate at the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡.
September 24, 25, and 26 | The Nest Climate Campus
Scientists at NYC Bird Alliance led guided tours of the Javits Center green roof network, nearly 7 acres of diverse green habitats that support a variety of wildlife. The tour talked about the Javits Center’s pioneering bird-friendly glass, visit the rooftop Farm, Food Forest, and Pollinator Garden, and explored how these habitats support pollinators, bats, and migratory birds.
