Great Basin National Park in Nevada stretches 5,000 vertical feet and supports five distinct types of habitats, lending itself to a wide variety of bird life. As the climate changes, some 15 species might be extirpated from the park including the Red-breasted Nuthatch and Yellow Warbler. Conditions are also likely to worsen for the Cassin鈥檚 Finch, Black-throated Sparrow, Sage Thrasher, and numerous other birds. While other birds may move into Great Basin National Park, it is recommended that park managers focus on protecting the existing habitats and reducing the effects of nonnative species.
